Last year I won a kayak race and my prize was a memebership at a local health club. At my orientation last night, I was shown the major equipment in the gym. I asked about this lonely funny looking machine in the far corner. "What's that?" "I don't know" he replied. "I think it's some kind of rowing machine, but nobody ever uses it." I went over sat down and nothing came on the screens - dead. It wasn't even plugged in. It brought back memories of the fortune teller booth in Tom Hanks movie "BIG". Anyways, I grasped the paddle shaft shaped bar and started swinging. THis machine allowed me to replicate a paddling motion perfectly. The computer worked me hard. I had 8 different programs avail. including heart rate control. As I swung through the stroke, the variable weight stack lifted and floated down, waiting for the lift from my next stroke. It was so smooth, I could adjust the speed of the falling stack up or down to adjust the intesity of my workout. NordicTrack makes it. VERY cool. I suggest checking it out.
