This applies to all kinds of things from sky diving, thru' skiing, SCUBA, motorcycling, rollerblading, bicycling, etc. Anybody here remember the FEAR of the very first time you were on a bicycle? Those of us with good sense and good survival instincts maximize knowledge and skills. We also use safety equipment to minimize the damage when the knowledge and skills are not sufficient to the moment. But we do this stuff for the adrenaline rush of that moment of fear, and the feeling of competence that comes with doing the activity successfully. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Flory, San Jose, CA. daflory_at_pacbell.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speak softly and study Aikido, then you won't need a big stick. ©1999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Nov 11 1999 - 07:46:31 PST
