I have used a Minolta Quickscan 35 for a few years (when they were a bit more expensive) with pretty good success. It scans at a high enough resolution that I can scan a trans, rework it, then have it put back on slide (28-32 meg). YOur other option is to have them put on cd-rom which many pro finishers will do (in my area anyway).
