Ralph's book was the first book I ever read on the subject and was
impressive for the balance of the technical and the passionate aspects
of kayaking. I don't have a foldable(but will soon) and feel that the
book does apply to hardshells as well.
The second was G. Dyson's book 'Baidarka' which is stylistically
different, but leaves as strong an impression.
Most of the other books I have used as reference as opposed to reading
from cover to cover as these two.
