Sounds like a great paddle. Being out in that sort of weather can be exhilarating.

I know there has been some discussion around this before but can some one explain to me why so many US posts involve launching from 'ramps' and paying (!?!?!?!). Paying to launch sounds extremely odd.  Why not launch from somewhere else (and not pay)?

Obviously there is a fundamentally different system operating.
