One thing that comes to mind is whether it is tent quality or clothing quality - the significant difference being fire resistance and a rough factor of two in price. Sometimes I get good deals on fabric from dealers that stock ends of runs etc. This gets the cost down a lot. So you may be comparing end of run or discontinued color to a regular stock product at the other dealer. It pays to shop and not be fussy about the color at times. Mike PS - Amie got me about a gazillion feet of light, white Dacron that's 18 inches wide for $3 (garage sale). I don't know what to do with it all, but kites come to mind. I'm in the middle of making a hammock with it. Got myself a serger for Christmas, so I'll be able to finish the fancy paddling clothes projects over the winter (content). *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Mon Dec 06 1999 - 17:38:40 PST
