I know raw kevlar is hygroscopic, and some epoxies can absorb water
before full curing. I don't think fully cured epoxy will absorb water.

Hmm...do you think this would stop wetsuit "diaper-rash"?

I have a Kevlar-Carbon boat and I can vouch for the fact that it's ALWAYS
heavier after paddling then before. The longer the paddle, the heavier the
boat. Headwinds also increase the weight.

Someone in RBP asserted that kevlar boats absorb water and gain weight
over time. After some research, I found a website that aserted that
both kevlar and epoxy resin are hygroscopic and require careful
preparation in laying up. I know sailors put epoxy on their bottoms to
seal them against water absorbtion and blisters. Has the RBP poster
jumped to an erroneous conclusion or will a properly made kevlar boat
actually absorb water and gain weight?
