I understand that most rudder systems on Fiberglass kayaks are not compliant
and will revert to the year 1900 at midnight.

Yet another reason to go rudderless!

Mike
Rudderless paddler. (Not to be confused with directionless!)

Paddling along through fog so thick that only one's thoughts are
visible, your reverie is abruptly shattered by the ancient cry of a great
blue heron as she lifts uncertainly from the brilliant blue of a
mussel-shell beach witnessed only by the brooding, wet spruce....your
passage home seems as much back through time as it does through space.

Rudder systems on plastic kayaks will, of course, be (com)pliant.

OK Thanks. I changed the cockpit coaming to a metalic luster and I'm hoping this will repel any spaunduliks.

Kayaking, it's about being young forever

I'm not sure about newer materials, but wood kayaks are guaranteed to
"roll over" correctly after the first of the year.
