The photo was taken by John Kirk-Anderson and shows Chris surfing in,
presumably yesterday (Sunday) as a demo. And before you ask, I've no idea
why from an open beach as there's a much better sheltered place just a few
kilometres further on which everyone else heads to and then leaves from.

Report states - "The 42 year old carpenter from Washington State..."
"...plans to complete the trip in April."

Clockwise round the country as everyone else has done, that is heading
south from Christchurch.

Not that I know of which is why he's claiming a solo trip, same way Brian
Roberts did it. Paul Caffyn had shore support and a paddling companion for
the first part of his trip.
