Cold tempertures may have been part of the problem also.
They say you can use the 5200 in 40F. If used in tempertures in the 60's
are below I would suggest bring the tube inside for a day to aquire room
temperture it might help to "soften it up" before use.

Here's something I do that might help with the shelf life of the 5200.
These are things to minimize air curing the 5200 during shelf living.
After each use I sqeeze the tube to the point where the adeisve is coming
out the tube then I even off the adeisve flush with the end of the nozzle.
Then before installing the cap on the tube nozzle I wrap the nozzle with a
peice Saran Wrap hanging over on the threads where the cap will be screwed
on. Then installing the cap to seal the Saran Wrap. This proceder will
elimanate almost all the air trap in the tube during storage. I had tubes
last for several months after opening.

As with many adheisves slight roughness is better. Clean the surface well
for a good bond.

I'ved used both fast and slow cure and found now differance except for the
curing times, go fiqure.
