FYI: Wes Boyd (a Paddlewiser?) has posted this treatise on yaks for big guys: http://www2.dmci.net/users/wesboyd/bigguy.htm Not comprehensive, but a good start. -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR also a big guy ... in the cockpit area *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
Wes was one of many paddleweisers who was very helpful in my recent search for a 'yak suitable for a big guy. At 6 foot tall, 300 pounds I found many boats are WAY too small. I discovered an important measurement to be the cockpit depth. One boat which I tried, and subsequently purchased was the SEA GULL "OCEAN". This boat can be seen at www.vittuden.com. construction fiberglass approx. $2,400.00 lenght 17'4" width 25.2" cockpit depth 12.2" cockpit width 17.3" cockpit lenght 38.6" weight 55 pounds capacity 396 pounds I suppose it's downside is that is currently only available in Sweden. Anyway, Wes' web site is worth a viewing. .Hal -----Original Message----- From: Dave Kruger [SMTP:dkruger_at_pacifier.com] Sent: den 13 januari 2000 10:31 To: PaddleWise Subject: [Paddlewise] Big Guy Yaks FYI: Wes Boyd (a Paddlewiser?) has posted this treatise on yaks for big guys: http://www2.dmci.net/users/wesboyd/bigguy.htm Not comprehensive, but a good start. -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR also a big guy ... in the cockpit area *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ *************************************************************************** *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
