Just received a request from a former co-worker regarding Cataract Canyon,
Class IV and V. She didn't say where it is, but I will guess in North America.

Do any of you folks have a clue and/or experience with Cataract Canyon.

Thanks

Cataract is in Utah on the Colorado R just downstream from its confluence
with the Green R. I've never paddled it but it has a reputation for being
fairly rowdy especially at high water.

She's probably talking about the Colorado River above Lake Powell. There's
lots of good stuff about it -- but for an overview with a different twist,
you might want to look at Colin Fletcher's "River".

It's in Utah on the Colorado just upstream of Lake Powell <Glen Canyon Dam> It is a textbook class 4 at medium flows and quite pushy class 4+/5- at spring run off high flows. Really long shuttle and paddle/tow out at the end. It's a SW Canyonland classic.
