Sounds like the most promising direction for the logo. Also why not work up both a button and a patch? One could choose which to use. Reminds me of the story of a company in which the CEO decided that all employees must wear a corporate logo pin. One day when he was walking around the office he spotted a Mr. Jones who was not wearing the pin. Jones, all flustered and stammering, gulped out, "Oh, my gosh, sir, I must have left it on my pajamas!" BTW, I think the ideas that are flowing on this are great. However, I feel it should the final decision should be made by some one of impeccable artistic taste, specifically Jackie of Ascii Art fame.
