Sandy, our sea faring gypsy-kayaker, back-channeled me with the comment
that this was too techie. So maybe I can elucidate a bit - the thought was
spurred by two considerations:

1. If the file is in a vector graphic format it can be resized infinitely
without any image distortion. If it is in a raster format resizing will
cause image distortion. If the image can easily be manipulated then it
could easily be adapted to use on a variety of items or mediums. (For more
info on graphic formats a good intro can be found at:
http://www.digitalid.com/vectorVSraster.html )

2. The key to the whole thought is that if the image were made freely
available as a download on the PaddleWise web site then it would be up to
each member to find a graphics shop, sewing shop, etc to create their own
patch, button, decal, hat, t-shirt, etc. This would relieve any one member
from having to bear the financial burden of up front production expenses,
order processing, collection, and finally shipping.
