Doug,

I and another friend both sent one back but both of us have been happy with
the second one. I like the all-button operation so you don't have to try to
manipulate knobs inside a waterproof radio case.

That is right, I put the waterproof radio in a waterproof radio case because
it is not submersible. I decided this would be a great way to save about
$100 on a truly submersible unit. Problem is, I wore out the clip on the
bottom of the bag despite leaving the radio alone most of the time and now I
am on my second $25 case--perhaps not such a great investment after all.

Subject: [Paddlewise] VHF Radio

I know VHF's have been talked about over and over on this list, but I have
a very specific question. I may be able to get a good deal on a waterproof
Standard HX350S, and I was wondering if it is a good radio.

I have never used VHF's before, in terms of actually having my own, but
after the Storm Island rescue, it became apparent to me I do need to
finally break down and buy one.

Any thoughts?
