I recall reading about a person who had problems with the attachments
rotating on Yakima bars. He called Yakima and was told that there had been
a problem with the thickness of the vinyl coating that resulted in some bars
being too small in diameter for the attachments to tighten properly. I
think he was able to get new bars through his Yakima dealer.

If it were me, I'd go to an autoparts store and buy a sheet of cork gasket
material and cut pieces to fit in the attachment clamps. That should keep
them tight without doing any damage to either the attachment or the bars.
