Gee, I don't have any trouble with my 14' 8" kayak on my 14' car :^) I bought a short kayak because I only had a 13' long living room in my apartment, but maybe Big Brother was sending me subliminal warning messages all along. It's not a petty thing to cite you for having an unflagged oversized load. You wouldn't think so if you ran into a ladder or a 2X4 sticking out past the end of the truck in front of you. If you're going to carry a long kayak, flag it.
