I posted a similar question here a couple of years ago and one suggestion that somebody had (and this could easily apply to boats carried hole-up also) is to make sure that the cradles are located under the bulkheads, assuming that your kayak has bulkheads. This could alleviate the stress absorbed by the typically weaker deck layup. So far no problems carrying either my FG Ascente or RM Skerray upside down - and they seem to live on the truck a lot of the spring/summer/fall.
