Nice piece, Wes.  You have the journalist's talent for clean, descriptive
prose.  Many images from not many words.  

In your rejoinder to someone else, you noted that solo paddles make for more
detailed trip reports -- as if you pay more attention to your surroundings when
you paddle alone.  When I solo paddle, I find myself painting word pictures as
I go -- without someone else to talk to, I seem to be making images for later
release -- often as a trip report.  Must be the gregarious gene needs
satisfying.

Let's hear it for safe solo paddling ...
