I've been looking for a new boat and trying on a lot of them. I ran across
a Dagger Apostle at a dealer that fit me pretty well and was incredibly
cheap. I've looked and cannot find any specs or information about it
anywhere. The salesman was no help saying all he knew about the boat was
what was on the tag. I believe the boat has been discontinued by Dagger and
that's why the price was so low. I like saving money but don't want to end
up with a boat that no one wanted for good reason. Does anyone have
one....seen one...know anything about it?

Though a little bit on the dated side, the Apostle is considered to be a
pretty good boat for a plastic boat. For a starter boat, it'll probably be
all right and better than a lot of more expensive possibilities.

There's a pretty good Australian website that has a guy's experiences with
the Apostle, but you have to work your way through a bit of Australian slang:

http://www.nswseakayaker.asn.au/mag/29/apostle.htm

A couple of years ago, the Apostle listed for around $1050, IIRC. If it's
considerably under, it's a good deal.

The first single SK I paddled was the Apostle, although only for an hour
or so. I liked it a lot. The seat was a good fit for my butt, and it had
a tight felling like a WW boat. As I recall, the decks are fairly low.
It was easy to roll right off. I would consider incredibly cheap for
this boat to be < US$800 or so. The boat could be a few years old. Has
it been stored out of the sun?

My impressions of the Apostle after a brief spin:
I paddled one for part of a day surfing with a short cruise recently.
It turned easily on edge, and surfed well in 1 metre waves, with no undue
broaching. It doesn't track as well as my own boat, and needs the rudder
down to stop a little wallowing.
I didn't like the large cockpit, and found my knee slipping out from under
the deck and pushing the spray cover when trying to lean/edge. This would be
curable by fitting braces or foam etc.
The rudder blade is weak, and bent sideways while in the up position, in
surf.
All in all, not a bad boat.
Regards, PT.
