I essentially never use that "highway" feature of my GPS. The compass page
is quite sufficient - and now that the cross-tracking feature works as
advertised, it provides a good backup. Another backup for both of these
features is a check between the trackand bearing features  of the GPS,
and/or between the Track of the GPS and the boat's deck compass.
