I'm not advocating using a trolling motor on a kayak, but I can offer solutions to 2 of the potential problems Dave raised in his post. 1. Routing cables thru the deck. Marinco (www.marinco.com I think) makes a trolling motor plug specifically for this. The female half of the plug flush mounts thru a hole in the deck that can be sealed with 5200 or whatever. The male plug leads from the deck to the motor 2. Battery gas problem can be avoided by using a sealed battery, either gell cell or absorbed glass mat. Neither gives off gas and both can be mounted in any position, even upside down. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed May 24 2000 - 10:30:30 PDT
