If it's taken off the car, I can make a claim even without a police report!!! No evidence of theft (damage etc) reqd. Caveat - I haven't tested the company's claim handling on this, so getting a settlement may be easier said than done, but for car (hit by drunk) and home (break in) they were no problem at all. Economical Mutual Ins Co.
