<If you check your regular homeowner's policy, chances are watercraft are not covered. Same for your auto insurance. I got an additional policy through my house insurance company for all 8 boats in my garage.> One thing to check on homeowner's policies is whether your boats are covered only while in the house/garage. That seems to be the case with most U.S. insurance companies these days --- in other words, homeowner's insurance may cover the boats while they're on your premises but not when they're on the car or in the water. The other biggie is liability insurance; not to revisit the great PaddleWise bow'n'stern tiedown debate, but, if your sleek sea kayak did somehow leave your vehicle at speed and become a freeway missile, are you covered for the damage it could do?
