I'm looking for toggles... four of them. Where to get them?

A kayaking buddy had a pair of two toggles tied together with a strap. They
made a great carry for a loaded kayak. Four can carry a loaded kayak so
much easier than two! Or four with straps can do so much better than one on
each end and one on each side of the cockpit.

When using four people to carry a kayak, I like using a long strap where
everyone wraps the straps around their shoulders and hold the strap with the
hand furthest away from the kayak. This takes the weight off your arms.
Also, it's a lot easier when the paddlers are different heights -- at least
for the shorter paddlers when those tall paddlers lift up the boats and all
the weight falls on the shorter guy. With the straps, you can adjust so the
kayak lifts evenly. Although not so important in a single, this technique
is great if there's a double you have to lift.

They're easy to make. Take a 4-5" (10 cm) piece of 1" PVC thick wall pipe.
Drill a hole in the center just big enough to jam in both ends of some
5mm climbing rope. Pull one end of the rope out each end of the pipe and
tie a figure-of-8 knot in the end. The length of the rope is up to you.

Make 'em. The local hardware or lumber stores will have doweling in various
diameters. Cut it, drill transverse holes in the center of each length.
Paint it if you want to. Attach your straps or lines, and away you go.
Cheap too. I've used 3/4 inch doweling, but 1" thickness might be more
comfortable.

An alternative on that is to use the 45 degree angle PVC pipe joints. Then, with a hole in the "sharp" angle, all as above. Makes an easy carry.
