Peter, the books arrived yesterday and they are AWESOME! For those who don't remember, Peter O from Australia attended a conference in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) last year. I picked him up from his hotel and took him for some paddling in the Keys. He subsequently wrote a Paddling with Sandy trip report. On May 16 he told me he had sent some books - unfortunately, I'm only allowed to keep one of them; the other two have designated recipients. I hope I don't forget :) I don't know if they were on the book lists discussed last year, but the selection is stunning. COLD OCEANS - Adventures in Kayak, Rowboat, and Dogsled by Jon Turk. Hardback. (ISBN 0-06-019147-3) "...the thrilling story of Jon Turk's expeditions to some of the most inhospitable regions on earth...Cape Horn, Northwest Passage....Arctic blizzards." FATAL STORM - The 54th Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race by Rob Mundle. Paperback (ISBN 0-7322-6435-9). "In 1998 it [the race] became one of the world's major sporting disasters. Six sailors tragically perished, countless others suffered injuries and numerous yachts sank or were badly damaged." Has more than 75 color photos - gripping. The DREAMTIME Voyage - Around Australia Kayak Odyssey by Paul Caffyn Large paperback (ISBN 0-473-02349-0) "...the first kayak circumnavigation of Australia, a 360 day, 9,420 mile epic." There are photos on practically every page. Can't wait to read these books! And, yes, Peter, I do agree with your recommended choice of who should get which book - I just don't agree that I should have to part with any of them! MANY THANKS, PETER. When's your next conference?
