Anyone have a link or other info about carving a
Greenland style paddle? I've never paddled with one,
but if it's not terribly difficult, I'd like to try to
make one. Thanks.

Chuck Holst has good instructions which you can download from the
following Paddlewise link
http://www.paddlewise.net/topics/boatequip/

The file requires Adobe Acrobat reader.

Two of my favorite sites for descriptions of how to make a greenland paddle
are

Gerry David's article at
http://seacanoe.org/grnpadle.htm#backward

Chuck Holst's article at
http://www.magicnet.net/~gstamer/makegreen2.pdf
Note: This site requires the Adobe Acrobat reader. If you do not have it on
your computer you can download it for free from http://www.adobe.com

Both sites have real good drawings included.

Another great article --- and my personal favorite because of its simplicity --- is George Ellis' at http://www.guillemot-kayaks.com/Building/GreenlandPaddle.html.

Very simple construction, good gouge. Also sells a booklet, sometimes available at paddling shops.

Well, gee, I was using my George Ellis Greenland paddle earlier today. Made
the paddle two years ago and have the start of a second one in my shed.
