David, You said: >>Boy oh boy, keep tethering that radio!. I bought an HX350S about a year ago. Didn't use it much but it was sure nice to have as a little extra security. Very nice radio. Unfortunately, it's somewhere on the bottom in the Everglades - it slipped out from under the bungies as I reached for a bird book. No way to retrieve it. >> <snip> That's why I tether a number of items, 'cause I've lost so many things over the years. I do have one problem though. I've been getting in late at night as I've been paddling the early evening high wind thermals we have been enjoying lately. The other night I got home after dark, and took all my gear into the house out of the car. I left the radio on the roof, as I did not want to drop it on the driveway once I realized my armful was too big. I went back to get the next load. I took my car to work the next morning, as my back was too sore to ride my bike. I zoomed along the highway, zipped around corners the 15k to work, pulled into an available parking spot, got out, and you guessed it, my radio was still on top of the car - amazingly!, in its friction restriction case. So, what kind of tether would I need? A magnetic one ? :-) Glad my head is bolted to my bull-neck (it's actually average), or I'd forget that too. Bull-headed though, I am. Or in this case, dumb-headed. A women did this with her child in its carrier a while ago, leaving the youngster on the car roof. The baby survived the fall off the roof at road speed fortunately. I also lost a very expensive pair of prescription glasses three weeks ago, and I now think I know what happened. Don't leave stuff on your car's roof between loads! BTW, I also use the West Marine case to help prevent premature scratching of the clear view screen, not so much because I'm worried about water penetration.
