Peter, The Raytheon 102 and 106 are definitely waterproof. We have a number of the former that were donated to the Downtown Boathouse where they get abused, i.e. no waterproof bag, no particular care beyond recharging. They are holding up well. Other users of the previous Apelco 520 (which Raytheon replaced, revamped and renamed the Raytheon 102) report no water damage either. All of this is with the Nicad pack; no alkaline pack will be waterproof. The 106 differs from the 102 in two respects. It can broadcast at 6 watts and has a longer life battery.
