There seems to be some confusion. The only Raytheon I am acquainted
with is the Raytheon 102 (previously sold by Raytheon as the Apelco
520). It has a Nicad battery pack which can be bought directly from the
company or through dealers. I think the Nicad pack costs in the $100
range. These radios have only been out for a few years (3 yrs?). I
don't believe there were any VHF radios meeting the JIS-7 submersibility
rating much more back than about 5 years. It is this level that is
truly waterproof, i.e. capable of being submersed.
