I never used a stick before this past week, at the Atlantic Kayak Tours
pre-symposium and symposium. I spent two full days learning the
technique from Doug Van Doren during the pre-symposium, and then took his
intermediate and advanced classes during the symposium. On Sunday I went
out with my euro blade, and I found the same thing - definite, noticeable
improvement, even in that short period of time.

One other thing - my roll with the euro blade has been spotty, but with
the stick it was virtually 100%. (Of course, that was using the stick
with my Romany; when I tried to roll Doug's Betsy Bay, it was a different
story. That boat just did NOT want to roll up, though I've seen Doug's
demonstrations several times, and he makes it look totally effortless.)
