Hi Ken, To my knowledge You have a couple of options: North Shore Paddlers Network (NSPN.org) is based around Boston's north shore. This is a very active club that embraces new paddlers and seeks to teach them all of the skills and safety info that they can absorb. Most of the workshops are free to members. But there are also classes taught by famous paddler/teachers offered at reduced fees. Monadnock Sea Kayak Club, is a email based club that gathers people for trips and pot luck dinners and cooperative paddles with the Lake Champlain Kayak Club. I am a member of both clubs, though I am more active in NSPN. We run skill sessions every Wednesday night at Glen Lake in Goffstown, NH. I just led a trip on Squam Lake last Saturday for 14 people, we had a great time. There is a beginners trip out and around Marblehead Harbor scheduled for this Saturday. Send me an email if you are interested or if you would like more info.
