Okay, as one of several outspoken supporters of the HX350S, I hereby revoke my unconditional endorsement of its watertightness.  Just had another failure --- same deal: water got into the battery compartment, shorts the radio to the transmit mode and locks it up.  Exactly the same as the last time.

It's still a very good radio, but, given the ridiculous amount of time it took Standard's service people to repair it last time, I'm buying a drybag for it from here on out.  Can't take the risk that it won't die again.

I really don't think so.    I put my VHF in a bag just in case.   After all  you never know what will happen and it is extra protection.
