I don't think that HydroSkin would be up to the level of cold-water
protection you would need in Mass. between December 1 and mid-April (I
am using very rounded off markers for the cold water season where you
are). At best, in its effectiveness it is the equivalent of under 2 mm
of neoprene (it's actual neoprene content is 0.5 neoprene but reflective
flecks etc. probably double that or so).  It is what you might want to
wear in the early Fall and late Spring.
