Two weeks ago I finally got my kayak, an Eddyline Night Hawk & there are no
words to explain the joy of having your own kayak, especially one you really
like. I chuckled at the posts wherein people kept their kayaks in their
livingrooms as I tried to get mine in there also. It was a challenge since
the front door leads into the width of the livingroom which is shy a few feet
of the length of my kayak! But I have it down to a fine art now but look
forward to the day when I have a way to safely secure it outside.

I have a 96 Pathfinder which has a 97 rack on it so modifications had to be
made to accomodate the railriders but I got that figured out. A friend made a
wonderful suggestion that I find a way to attach a set of hurly rollers to
the back factory bar. I started out in the military fixing cargo planes so
figured I could come up with a way to do that. Drilling holes in the bar was
a no go since the center of the bar was plastic. But I got those puppies on
there & they work like a champ. I put set of wheels on the stern of the kayak
as soon as I have it out the front door, roll it to the path, place the bow
on the rollers, lift the stern up & it rolls up & onto the saddles like it
was an automatic procedure. This gave me the independence to go paddling on a
moments notice since I didn't need any help loading/unloading.

I took my maiden voyage at Mayfield Lake wherein I was told that one day I
would kayak the lake. I couldn't envision it since I was scared to death of
the water. But I took some classes, was immediately hooked & a year later I
had my kayak & did paddle the lake. There is a lake down the road a bit
wherein I can go out whenever I want, it's so great the peace & serenity
being out there on the water. I can't wait to get into bigger & better
paddles, but for now am content building up my skills. Speaking of such it's
a beautiful day so am loading up now & am off.
