    Oh, if it were only that simple. While the power of surf

can be used to assist a roll, the judgment or knowledge
required to take
advantage of this power is normally enjoyed only by very
experienced surf
rats.
<unsnip>

The first time I got dumped in surf I stuck my paddle into
the wave what dumped me and rolled up to continue down the
wave. The class I was in got the mistaken impression I knew
what I was doing. My still-water roll was not even
consistent; it just felt like the right thing to do.

But what Jed said about injury risk is very true. Hopefully
one would be trying this in gentle conditions.

p.s. Courtney; I answered your Coetzee-related question
several times but got it bounced back. Wasn't shining you.
