I own a k-light and a pygmy arctic tern. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but my arctic tern is definitely a faster boat. And I mean at cruising speed. Oh, the k-light is a great little boat and I keep it for its portability but in no way can it match my hardshell in performance. Just telling it like it is from my experience. Walt: "I own a k-light and a pygmy arctic tern." Care to give a run down on the Arctic Tern? Any weathercocking in wind? Any trouble? How does it turn? What is it like downwind, surfing wind waves, and surfing swell? Any bow slap in chop or over waves? It is kind of unfair to compare one given foldable with another given hardshell and then make a generalization about the whole class of boats. There are going to be hardshell kayaks slower than your K-light and a foldable could be made which is faster than your arctic tern. Even if the K-light was exactly the same shape as the Arctic Tern it could be some reason other than the soft skin which makes the boat slower. It could be because the rubber is rougher than gel-coat. Nick At 3:07 PM -0400 9/21/00, Walt342_at_aol.com wrote: > I own a k-light and a pygmy arctic tern.
