Dear kayaking friends:

I remember a ways back that some people had these stoves. I'm considering
buying one here in Israel. I could not find this in the Paddlewise Topics,
so if you have had good or bad experiences with this stove, please let me know.

At this time of the year in Israel, we say "shanah tovah" (have a good year).

Josh

Jeez, we had enough threads and posts on this, you mean no one archived it?

I have use a "Mini-Trangia" #28 for years, and have had excellent luck with
it. It cook a little slower than white gas, but is quieter and safer. I
suspect in Israel that white gas might be hard to find, too.

The Trangia cookware is also excellent.

However, I bought the Mini-Trangia for backpacking, and suspect that if I
were to buy another, I'd get one of the larger sets for more flexibility in
cooking, and better wind protection. Possibly the #27.

As a result of the posts last year I bought a Trangia last year and like it
very much. I went for the Duoseal (aluminum clad w stainless steel) to
avoid cooking directly on aluminum. The kit fits together nicely and works
well. I have been a long time MSR Whisperlight user and still use it along
with the Trangia for group trips. For solo or two person trips I prefer the
Trangia now. The ease of setup and clean fuel are big pluses. It seems to
me that it burns more fuel than the MSR. I have had best luck with alcohol
from REI. The drug store variety burned dirty. I found out later that I
should have added water to it. The stove works very well in windy
conditions with the built in windscreen. I highly recommend it.
