Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who purchased Paddlewise decals over the past few months! As of this week I pretty much "broke even" with this venture -- finally! [And for those paddlin' skeptics out there -- the fact that I am now the proud owner of a sparkling yellow Romany 18 is nothing but pure coincidence!!! >>hehehe<< Speaking of profits, as of this week, any monies made off the remaining decals [about 350 or so] will be turned over for the betterment of this list. Haven't decided exactly how -- gift certificates, paddlin' gear, list maintenance, etc. -- but Jackie and I will be workin' out the details. Again, thanks to all for making this a break-even effort!!! Cheers! First I want to thank Jim Tynan for volunteering to have the decals made and paying for that effort out of his own pocket on the faith that those who promised to pay for their orders, would follow through (most finally did). A lot of work went into having those decals produced and shipped. Thank you, Jim, for the generous offer to contribute funds gathered above your costs on the decals to PaddleWise. What I think would be a better use of those extra funds would be a donation to a marine conservation program of your choice. Thanks, Jim. For those of you who want to know what the decals look like, they are round, water-proof decals that carry the PaddleWise logo which can be seen at http://www.paddlewise.net/logos/ Cheers, Jackie *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************

Bill Leonhardt, who handled the PaddleWise T-Shirt orders, I think is away this weekend at the Delmarva Paddlers Retreat (largely devoted to Greenland paddling these days with several guests again from Greenland including Maligiaq Padilla). He did something similar with the "profits" as suggested above by Jackie. He gave half to the Downtown Boathouse in Manhattan to help its public free kayaking program. I saw him hand over the check to Jim Wetteroth who runs the Boathouse; it actually got a smile out of Jim. The other half went to the Hudson River Watertrail to help its efforts to establish a blueway trail on the Hudson. ralph diaz -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ralph Diaz . . . Thank you, Jim, for taking on the chore. The decals are neat, and now that I have mine on my car window, I keep looking at decals on other people's cars, hoping to see another one. The odds are small, but I keep looking anyway...
