I recall someone wanting info on interesting ways people have modified their home-built kayaks. I was on Falls Lake (NC) two Sundays ago and met a lovely CLC Northbay. The builder had used fasteners called Dzus fasteners (used in airplanes and race cars) to hold his hatches on. These were two very small metal fasteners that held with a quarter turn. It made the deck extremely clean looking (no webbing!) and I am currently trying to find someone to sell 4 to me so I can retrofit my Chesapeake LT16. If anyone has worked with these before or wants photos of these fasteners, please contact me. Their web site is www.dzus.com but they make tons of different types of fasteners. I think this builder used the quarter turn Panex line with the ring.
