Saltspring and Wallace are among the driest of the Gulf Islands, being firmly in the rain shadow of Vancouver Island, but I have no experience with Oct and Nov. I'd guess wind would be the concern, in any event, inasmuch as the channels there run N and S, and as systems work through there would be strong breezes, approaching gales at times. I've thought about paddling there in the fall. Check out Snowden's book.
