Wow! This is gettin deep.... Let's see. Ethics and morals are really the same thing....they are what "you" believe in, while the masses may or may not agree with you. Integrity is how you respond to your ethics when nobody is looking, so to speak. Therefore, a person who, lets say, believes all wildlife is bad and should be killed, holds killing wildlife as his ethics/morals. They are only "bad" because they aren't mainstream thoughts. Further, if he follows through with it and kills an animal every chance he gets, then he's responding to his ethics/morals with a high degree of integrity! Okay, we don't neccessarily agree with him, but we respect his integrity, right?!?!? Okay, now lets say the government passes a law that you don't agree with. Do you disregard the law, and by so doing, effectively hold your own little revolution, or do you submit to the law (that, by the way, you agree to when you accept the honor of being a citizen of whereever you are) and try to create change from within the system? If enough people decide to reject their agreement to work within the system, then chaos emerges. From chaos comes the extremeties of change - some good, some bad - kinda like destruction preceeds construction. Somewhere in there, someone will want to get control where there is none, thus dictators emerge...some benevolent, some ruthless. Is ruthlessness neccessary to restore calmness and order, and is calmness and order a good agent to create positive advancements. Hummmm...sound like the beginning of any wars anyones ever heard about or participated in? What's my point, you ask?............... I don't have one. I'm just here to stir, stir, stir, stir, stir......... Anyone want to take a break from changing the world and talk "more directly" about Paddling? :-) Rick (....Virginia) (go ahead, take a shot.....I'm wearing my super duper flame resistent underwear today - and for those who are interested, the answer is..........Jockies - white - usually Fruit of the Looms.... but I will take requests if asked nicely) *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Tue Oct 24 2000 - 12:51:41 PDT
