[Paddlewise] Tents-last call/Tents and Ethics

Well... some people have "ethical" concerns about the obtrusive day-glo
orange /yellow color of the NF VE-25, but it sure makes the tent easy to
see ("find") while wandering around on the tundra, muttering to yourself,
"I'm sure my camp is just over that next little hill". If you have ever
found yourself muttering such things to yourself on the Barrenground, you be
quite grateful that you bypassed that nice little A-frame in that
"tundra-moss" or "prairie-dun". You also may console yourself that buying
a $500 tent employs more Asian piece-workers at $1.5 USD/hr, than say a $60
Walmart special. (Correct me if I am wrong on this).(LOL)

I like the NF VE-25. I thought it was overkill when I bought it , and when
storm-bound I hate the ghastly jaundiced light inside. (You sit there
wondering if your partner has end-stage liver failure, due to their peculiar
yellow-hue.) The other thing I find unique about this tent... it has so
many tie downs..for the tent, for the fly, and an internal guying system.
Sometimes in the morning, while un-pegging the 30 (?, perhaps an
exaggeration, just maybe) lines, I find myself wondering exactly how bad DID
the weather look last night??)
