(the forecast of 53 degrees with showers isn't a deterant) kirk<< Hi Kirk, oooh... Redmond - venturing into the land of Mr. Bill (of Microsoft infamy). If you need to rent a boat, I'm not sure about any places on the east side of Lake Washington, but I know a couple of good places on the Seattle side. Both these places have access to the Ballard Locks, so you can paddle from Lake Union out to Puget Sound... For the largest selection of boats, I'd recommend going to NWOC (Northwest Outdoor Center) on Westlake Ave. (West side of Lake Union). It's just a few doors down from Mariner Kayaks, so you could pay Matt Broze a visit as well. http://www.nwoc.com/ On Portage Bay (in the "U district" - University of WA) - which connects Lakes Union and Washington, there is a nice little Kayak Rental/Mexican café called Agua Verde Paddle Club. http://www.aguaverde.com/index.htm Agua Verde is owned by friends of mine (Bill and Mick) - Bill was a founding owner of NWOC as well. There's lots of water there - enjoy your visit!
