The wave really is a blast to ride.  However, it is a lot different from an 
ocean wave.  The fast water shooting up the angled wall on the artificial 
wave makes it more difficult to stay on it.  As a result, most rides last 
only about 15 seconds.  Some kayakers were able to do some spins, and some 
spins even happen accidentally.  Cartwheels just aren't possible.  No one 
used a paddle on it.  I was told they are useless on the artificial wave.  
Using the hands seemed to work fine.  Even though the water is very shallow, 
the wave is very safe to ride.  The shooting water is like a cushion.  No one 
was flipped or hurt on it.  I think renting the wave was $80 per hour and the 
pool $20 per hour for the club.
