I'm told that okoume is an African 'plantation grown' hardwood.  The
ethics in place on the okoume "plantations" could be the subject of some
debate, though!

Surprise!

I support renewable forests, and will gladly pay more for the small
amount of wood used in my boats.  I agree--it's definitely not wood boat
builders who are driving the cedar/redwood/spruce markets.
