Just to follow up a short thread from a while ago, I received a sample of the Vitudden deck fitting, viewable at http://www.vitudden.com/english.htm I installed the fitting centrally a short distance behind the cockpit as a tow point anchor. Fitting required flattening the slightly rounded glass deck. I think these fittings are really only suitable for flat, or near flat mounting. When fitted it seemed strong, and the boat could be lifted from it. The manufacturer says it will withstand 600 lb. These would be pretty good for stitch and glue boatbuilders.
