Don't let that 19" beam scare you.  From what I've heard from people that
have paddled it, the boat is actually no less stable than the 19.5.  When
I was deciding between a standard Northbay and the XL version I opted for
the wider (22" vs. 20") beam on the XL because I wanted a boat with a 
fairly comfortable initial stability level. I'm quite comfortable in it
although after paddling a standard Northbay I would have been happy with
that as well.
