I've been on a few paddles with fairly large numbers of paddlers, 17 in a recent group. This is pretty unmanageable. People get spread right out, it's hard to get everyone together to communicate and make decisions, wildlife is more disturbed. I think a large group might be better broken up into groups of 5-6, if there are enough experienced paddlers to go round. What's the best way to deal with a large group?
