Bob: I went with Ed Gullett on a trip to Todos Santos Island last month.. Fun - Beautiful - Kind of easy - 7 miles total for the crossing I plan to go on the trip to TSI with Ed and group - Jan 13-15 You ask, I will answer Wayne Smith Wayne, I will also be on the Jan 13-15 trip. I then plan to stay out on the islands when this trip leaves and wait for the next weekends trip out there. I solo often so I am quite comfortable being alone at sea. I went on Ed's Bahia de los Angeles last year. Considering all the amazing solo kayak trips he has done, I found Ed modest and unassuming. He is leaving the tour business and I am going to guess that he wants to get back into his long trips again. He said on the trip he wanted to cross the Alantic Ocean by kayak. What suprized me is his view of PFD's. "Too hot to wear". Even one day when the wind picked up and we needed to do a mile wide open crossing he did not have people put on their PFD's unless they wanted to. (I did) ----- Bob, I assume you are writing from Sitka, Alaska. I have not paddled in Baja but have been wanting to do some Alaska trips. I have paddled on the west coasts of the Queen Charlottes and Vancouver Island. What areas of Southeast Alaska do you recommend for multi day wilderness trips? Thanks, Andy Bridge A couple of paddlewiser's lately have back channeled me with the same question. I recommend reading "Guide to Sea Kayaking in Southeast Alaska by Jim Howard published by The Globe Pequot Press. it covers a lot of possible trips and contains loads of necessary information and addresses. my only major problem with the book is he recommmends down sleeping bags...I think the climate here is too wet.
